Sunset RecordINGS has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Nashville-based CBuJ Entertainment Distribution Company.

Sunset Records has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Nashville-based CBuJ Entertainment Distribution Company.

Independent record label Sunset and renowned Nashville based CBuJ Entertainment have signed an exclusive distribution deal for video and audio recordings from the Sunset Records Label Group catalog.

Based in Nashville, CBuJ is known for distributing hit music all over the world with top recording artists as the Kentucky Headhunters, Joe Ely, Marc Chestnut, the Jazz Crusaders, Patsy Cline, It’s A Beautiful Day, Buckethead and more (www.CBuJ.com). Sunset’s catalog will add its great mix of new recordings along with its special markets titles realized by the label over the last three years.

Sunset has been expanding its distribution all year. "I was closing our manufacturing deal with Morris Beegle (P&D/Hapi-Skratch) and he mentioned that he worked with John Burns (President of CBuJ). I agreed to terms that day,” says Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset. "You cannot find better sales people in our industry," Lichterman says about CBuJ’s staff. CBuJ accounts for the orders and sales of hundreds of millions of records with 125 years of combined major-record label and worldwide music distribution experience to offer Sunset.

CBuJ was originally started to provide distribution to independent labels representing various music genres. Sunset Records is expected to release new projects every month over the next year that include RichTaste, Kapital A in the 4th quarter, and Lichterman also says to expect more “special markets, licensed material, Home Videos titles and even some new artists to be released in the last quarter this year.” Sunset’s expansion this year includes all of the Sunset’s manufacturing and distribution.

Sunset’s upcoming releases by Kapital A and Richtaste already have initial orders at retail, and Kapital A created the Theme Song for the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA). Richtaste will officially release their first single, "Good Days Are Gone," to radio this week. The album is scheduled for release on September 23. Kapital A is a releasing Why Not on November 4th with the AIFA Theme Song used as a promotion with the new CD. And, currently, The New Surreal’s “We Got Time” is all over Hot AC Radio and the song is featured on CMJ’s web site this month. The entire Sunset records label group is named sixty-eight (68) times on the initial 51st Grammy Nominations Ballot. Sunset Records makes catalog of recorded music available at MTV's "Soundtrack" Site Network, Soundtrack.MTV.com.

Sunset Records Artists Joins The World’s only Interactive Music Guide for Television Soundtracks That Allows It’s Fans To Locate Music on MTV Shows.

Sunset Records adds hundreds of songs to the Soundtrack.MTV music guide network that also allows MTV viewers to identify over 1,500 songs that are played on shows on its programs each week. MTV licenses in over 1,500 songs for its own program shows each week. Soundtrack.MTV is now giving Sunset Records the ability to deliver its entire catalog of recorded music through this network. “This is just another one of the most viable ways to have our music heard by avid music fans,” says Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset Records.

Soundtrack.mtv.com – introduced its new site last month and is considered the industry's only real time interactive music guide for TV. The site showcases everything about music and artists being played on MTV at any given time. “What I want to do is encourage the cooperative spirit of my bands fans to support the Indie Record label scene,” says Lichterman, and “my goal is to have everyone heard on MTV in some way and then in turn out to the millions of their viewers. “oundtrack.mtv.com is a real-time listing of all the music being played on every MTV show and every MTV channel. This includes the short music clips heard as the soundtrack for such shows as "The Hills" and "The Real World." The guide also will keep archives of all songs played providing those listings by day, show, and time. The web site function will look ahead to what songs will be played in the next 24 hours at that time. MTV will also allow viewers to play 30-second clips of each song discovered via the guide, as well as link through to a more robust artist profile page, where fans can listen to songs in full, view music videos and see other details about the act.

The Sunset Records catalog of recorded music is available for preview on the Soundtrack.MTV web site and all of the links are now set up directly to MTV from the Sunset Records web sites. The Sunset titles are now available at Soundtrack.MTV as a full length album and for individual full-song streams.

MTV has also partnered with the Real / Rhapsody service that allows its users to stream any song in full, with a limit of 25 songs a month for non-Rhapsody subscribers or unlimited plays for members. The Sunset Records catalog is available through the Real / Rhapsody network. This deal significantly expands the distribution of our recorded music catalog and our music videos. It also shows that we will only work with the most viable companies in the world. We are all about quality more than quantity so to speak these days at Sunset."

How SpiralFrog Works

Blackwell has released two albums since 2006. The “Heartbreak” CD was released last week by Sunset Urban Records. The artist has been added to HipHop stations all over the world and is charting on the Illinois DJ Pool after one week!

JULY 2008

SUNSET URBAN GETS READY TO RELEASE THE BRAND NEW “HEARTBREAK” CD BY BLACKWELL!

Blackwell set to release his follow up CD, Heartbreak on Sunset Urban Records. The spirit of Christopher Wallace and Tupac Shakur was always with Michael Blackwell with hints of their styles found on his debut album, Un4givable and their untimely deaths have always obsessed Blackwell.  Heartbreak is an epic full length CD, packed from beginning to end with high level melodic hip hop anthems, but moreover, is filled with stories of his life and a feeling of appreciation for the hip hop greats in music.  The opening song of Where It All Started Pt. 2 does just that for Blackwell as he introduces the story of picking up where he left off last time. “I’m Your Puppet 2008” is another example of this evolving artist and Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset Urban and Sunset Records celebrates the CD in a jovial tone saying that “we have a very well orchestrated, colorful and melodic CD to release to radio, press and retail” this summer.
What's on the CD is that melodic blend of colorful music production, excellent harmonies coupled with a gritty vocal expressing his unwavering and accessible stories about life. There are also more blends of obvious posturing for people's needs for material items, but that is life. All in all, Heartbreak shows the journey of people's lives which has naturally brought music lovers a capricious mix of great melodic tunes ("Tha Way", "Lost But Found", "Question Remix") that all boast guest vocal harmonies (Abigail Tosca, Crystal Ann, Lil Dynomite) that take you on a great melodic ride throughout the entire CD.

The production level is perfect and at a high level. Don Lichterman has opened up ways for Blackwell to be able to deliver some of the most charming and opaque hiphop beats along with great harmonies that will most definitely be heard all over top urban radio stations. Heartbreak is just as fierce as his debut Un4giveable CD. Blackwell’s songs on this brand new studio CD are melodic and perfectly constructed rap songs. Samples are non existent yet replaced by the beautiful guest vocalists. One of the most effective things about Blackwell’s new CD is the use of his own songs from his initial CD. “Where It All Started, Pt 2” and “I’m Your Puppet 2008” are just a few ways to continue the story of Blackwell.

The lyrics throughout Heartbreak are concise and consistent to his message from his initial CD to this new CD. Blackwell has lived much of the life he raps about on Heartbreak. His feelings about life and persecution are what can actually make you strong in life. He is not necessarily talking about “gangsta life” in his raps, he is talking about life that seems to ring true in any city, town and in many families. When he and Lil Dynomite rap "Why’s the government still depressing us, politicians every day second guessing us, why the cops gotta be pressing us, why the hell aint anyone blessing us, why are the parents abusing us," it’s to send a message about ways for all walks of life to grow stronger no matter what’s happens. In other songs, he talks about relationships and how it is to use the “L” word and his friendships while growing up in his neighborhood.

While Blackwell has a bunch of female guests on Heartbreak, that really work, his remarks of praise towards woman are scattered on the CD – “You gotta keep giving…keep giving” which is very refreshing to hear in lyrics on hiphop songs. The entire CD blends his hardcore vocal rap with the harmonic sounds of his female vocalists he has featured on the Heartbreak CD. He does express his love for family and his wanting to be in love and in a great relationship. Much like the sound of 2Pac and Biggie, Blackwell makes does not hide about rapping in ambiguous ways. What he wants to say in his songs, he does it in a very tactful way.

“What it comes down to today in music is the substance of an entire album,” says (Don) Lichterman, “Heartbreak is a one of those albums you will keep on your iPod forever if you love this style of music” “A lot of the newer urban groups rap about addressing many great issues in life while still making accessible music to groove too,” Lichterman continues to say after being asked about the landscape of music today. “I just want something not only at a top level and with color; I also look to see what is off the normal beaten track no matter what genre of music we work at Sunset.”

Blackwell quotes that he is "always working on music all of the time and I am always down for adding my vocals and my rhymes with anyone of these artists that are on this CD." We are not only left with great understanding about Blackwell on this current Heartbreak, CD, this album is clearly produced by an artist that continues to develop his great rap in 2008.

APRIL 2008

April 30, 2008 - Capt. Crunk’s Hardcore Hip Hop CD, ‘It’s A Hell Of A Drug’, Hits Stores on May 27th

Brand new Capt. Crunk CD in stores May 27th worldwide online at Amazon.com and in stores at Target

The upstart Sunset Urban Records readies to add its second release into the world of urban hip hop music with Capt. Crunk’s highly anticipated debut hip hop CD entitled, ‘It’s A Hell Of A Drug’. The CD will be available to consumers at top retail outlets such as Amazon and Target as well at all stores that sell music downloads (iTunes, Real/Rhapsody, Napster, Groupie Ringtones (Sprint, Cingular & Alltel), etc.).

In stores May 27th worldwide, ‘It’s A Hell Of A Drug’ is a very distinctive hip hop album with evocative life messages, that boasts the incredible sounds of Capt. Crunk who is from the Bronx in New York City. Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset Records / Sunset Urban says, “Crunk has an amazing rap and an amazing way to say what is on his mind throughout the entire CD.” The new Capt. Crunk CD is being released just weeks after Sunset’s first Urban release with D’Cyple’s, “For My People” CD and just weeks before the new Paula Perry CD, “Godmommy.”.

Lichterman then says that “(Ronald) Bullock came to me with Crunk’s music saying he had the ‘inspiration’ of the late hip hop and rap icon Tupac Shakur.” “What I love is the hardcore, down and dirty feel of the entire CD” , says Lichterman, crediting the great scouting and production work of his Sunset Urban A&R staff. Lichterman continues, "today’s urban environment is filled with corporate hip hop artists and music that has no message. This unfathomable project from Sunset Urban Records shows the world what is ‘genuine’ and tells the stories of what goes on in the streets and in the lives of people living in hip hop community".

New hip Hop performer Capt. Crunk is more than a rap and hip hop artist. He is a lyricist whose words sound like an established poet. Crunk's music also shows that he is a strong activist; he campaigns very hard to make sure his listeners will know the down side of drug abuse. “His message is very clear and about real life in the city,” says Ronald C. Bullock, A&R staffer at Sunset Urban. Bullock goes on to say that "Crunk has the ability to spread the message in his rhymes.” The brand new CD from Sunset Urban Records is distributed by Sunset’s new distribution arm, Sunset Label Group Distribution Company. ‘It’s A Hell Of A Drug is being released to every major digital download site and to every top mobile content site starting in mid May and is being worked to hip hop radio stations starting this week.

After being asked about his sense of direction with his music, Crunk makes no bones about saying “all aspects of my life are represented on this CD,” - from Crunks street mentality, to his political beliefs, to his deep intimate self. A total look at life is evident from the very beginning of the CD. “Lost Soulz” is the first song being worked to hip hop and urban styled radio formats. The second single is the “Gunz and Drugz” with “Club Crunk” also being worked to radio all over the world starting this month.

“Violence and drugs which generally lead to incarceration has touched so many people in the hip hop community and this CD is not only a hymn for that lifestyle, it tells many real life stories,” says Crunk from New York City. It also emphasizes why lyrics are so important in the hip hop community. Capt. Crunk has the real life experiences and the overall experience of life put down in such a relevant way on his debut CD with Sunset. Crunk says that he always wanted to put out a hip hop album that has many ‘consequential messages’ about life.

With minor changes, the film is even more powerful than ever, and shows the complete hypocrisy by the US Government, and the complete failure of the so called “War on Drugs”

Like Mr. Booth, Jack has lost many friends and relatives to Drugs, and alcohol. “American Drug War” explains why this has happened, and what we can do about it.

April 6, 2008 - Award Winning Documentary, American Drug War: The Last White Hope is revealed by panelist on the Real Time with Bill Maher HBO panel!

Esteemed panelist on the popular HBO show, Real Time with Bill Maher refers to the American Drug War film in last episode.

Actor / Activist Esai Morales informs the Real Time audience and panel consisting of House of Representative Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), economist Robert Reich, political strategist Amy Holmes and the host Bill Maher to "look" at the American Drug War film. "I was watching Real Time like I do every week," says Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset Home Visual Entertainment (SHE) and the Sunset Holding Co., LLC., "and Esai literally told Bill (Maher) what Kevin (Booth) and I had wanted to do for weeks." The Kevin Booth Film has won four (4) consecutive film festival awards for Best Documentary Film, a two month run on Showtime Cable and will be releasing the brand new DVD to stores on May 27th this year.

The new DVD will include over three hours of bonus footage and beginning on April 20 this month, the American Drug War: The Last White Hope DVD will be made available for sale exclusively at www.SacredCow.com, the www.SunsetainableActionNetwork.org web site and at the Sunset Music Store (powered by Amazon.com). The documentary film boasts informative interviews with Tommy Chong, Freeway Ricky Ross, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Mike Ruppert, General Barry McCaffrey Celerino Castillo III, Judge James Gray, T Rodgers, Joe Rogan, Ron Paul, Ralph Nader, and Jello Biafra.

Award winning filmmaker Kevin Booth explores the "war on drugs" in a realistic and simplistic way. Lichterman says "there are two (2) very important modern day documentary films that people need to see and this is one of those great films." The other documentary Lichterman refers to is "The Corporation." This particular film company and the distribution companies cannot ask for a healthier initial reaction to the movie. With established actors such as (Esai) Morales taking it upon himself to speak about the films content to political leaders, to world renowned talk show hosts and to millions of HBO viewers, this is the perfect media outlet for any new DVD. Let alone one as important as the American Drug War: The last White Hope.

MARCH 2008

March 27, 2008 - Hip Hop Artist D’Cyple Explodes on the Scene with New CD at Sunset Urban!

Hip Hop Artist D’Cyple set to release the For My People CD on Sunset Urban Records - New music focuses on life issues touching people of all genders and sexes.

CD REVIEW FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

It’s been a while since hearing from the amazing hiphop artist, D'Cyple, and from the sound of the new CD, he’s ready to take the world by storm. He is now with Sunset Urban Records [www.SunsetUrban.com], with a new CD that boasts many singles being worked to radio. This up and coming artist is a native of Wisconsin, D’Cyple began his career at a very young age playing various musical instruments. He learned how to play guitar, horns, keyboards, and the drums, and that talent is very evident on his new CD. D’Cyple’s first two CDs were also picked up by Sunset Records and Sunset Urban.

“I’ve been planning and preparing for this release for a long time,” says D’Cyple in answer to what he’s been doing since No One Knows, his last CD release came out a few years ago. "And, since hanging out with good friend Ronald Bullock (Head of A&R at Sunset Urban), knowing that I have people behind my music is all I can ask for in life,” he adds. “I’ve been trying to do all of the necessary personal things that can help me maintain an existence in music industry,” he says from his home.

After rhyming over great beats on his first two CDs, D’Cyple decided to take it to the next level on this new release. The CD has brought together a diverse group of old-school and new sounding artists, coupled with a grooving rap that can cross over to top 40. This CD is pure hip-hop with some jazz influences. In fact, Jazz purists would say the overall grooves head deeply toward the funkier 1970s era of jazz, and hardcore hip-hop heads will be turned on by the overall musical attitude. This is one of the best extensions of a jazz sound with hardcore hip-hop rap that grooves at times and has great orchestration.

The first single being worked to urban radio stations all over the world is “My Life” with another no doubt to be hit song, “Don’t Wanna be” as the second single. Other songs being set up for radio promotion are “A Hustler” along with “Home” and “Why I’m Here.” The For My People full length CD is a montage from the first song and down to the 17th song on the CD. Not only with the brand new CD be available at Target retail stores and online at Amazon, but Sunset Urban has also “picked up” the first two D’Cyple CDs, Tha Album and No One Knows. They will be made available at all retail stores on April 1st.

Despite the deal with Sunset this year, D'Cyple's first two CDs were only released and available on the internet as a download. “It’s not that it was a failure to work my music on my own, but this opportunity that Don Lichterman and Ronal Bullock have given me is the greatest of my life,” he states. “People from this area (Wisconsin) know who I am as an artist, but that is all that currently makes up my fan base. This opportunity to have my music heard on the radio and to have my CDs available in stores is all I asked for as an artist.”

“I’m an emcee. I love to rap. There is an obvious message in the words in my music. My intention has always been to express myself and address issues that affect everyone regardless of race and sex,” states D’Cyple about his career. “I have seventeen new songs that I am releasing with Sunset, and they can be found on the labels artist page even today (
http://www.sunseturban.com/artist/Dcyple.htm).” One of his new singles ‘My Life’ is being looked at by film companies and advertising companies for licensing. “There are obvious hit songs” says Don Lichterman, head of the Sunset Group of entertainment companies and Sunset Holding, Co. “And, we will work this right at the urban format although I will be prepared to cross this over to mainstream pop radio at the drop of a dime,” says Lichterman

“I love working with Ronald (Bullock) and being in his hands at the label. I trust him. He hasn’
